VBS - Where it all began!
We've lost track but we think 2023 was our 18th year of VBS - wow! This is an important week of ministry as it is one of our evangelistic events. Not only do we reach out to our "regulars", but we reach even further into the community with flyers in the the local food ministry boxes, with Belk Farm employees and door to door contact in many of the local trailer parks and apartments. This year it was STELLAR! We had an amazing itinerary of worship time with lots of hand motions and getting the kids engaged, Bible lessons, memorizing scripture, crafts, games, and of course snacks. It’s a fun-filled week where we invite and transport kids from the surrounding areas of Mecca, Oasis, Thermal and Coachella.
We had our largest group of Jr. Higher's to date with numbers of 35 -45 throughout the weeks. Once again we were blessed to have a stellar team from Peninsular Community Church in Rancho Palos Verdes who blessed our kids with an outstanding program of Bible study, games and our annual epic water battle! Here are some of the "God Sightings" the kids wrote throughout the week. We love the heart filled messages and share these as they were written:
"I saw God when prayed for my friend Victoria and when we sing together" "I appreciate every person that is serving so that I can have a delicious lunch and snacks." "I have seen God taking care of us. He covers us with His precious blood." "Dad drove me here." "Being at VBS" "My mom was tired but went shopping for us to all match on Team Color day.." "Sister made a friend." "I saw God moving through the worship team." "Mrs. Esme talking to us about God at VBS." "Me gusta VBS La escuelita."
We are so grateful for all the volunteers who served so faithfully and joyfully loved on our kids; as well as the many donations that helped curb costs and allowed us to concentrate on ministry to the kids. We knew and felt the many prayers that were prayed for this week and we can give full testimony and glory to God for all His answers!
