Summer Camp is so much more than camp...
At Tesoro Club we believe that some of the most valuable times for children and youth are up at Summer Camp. It gives them an opportunity for a time to step away from their everyday lives and get alone with Jesus and leaders that love them.
Some of our kids' most significant faith journeys have begun at a Christian Summer Camp. With the generous support of individual donors and grants from Anderson Children's Foundation, we have been able to send our kids to camp over the course of several summers. Since this is such a powerful time for them we highly covet your prayers for the hearts of the youth and the ministry the counselors have with each individual camper.
Jr. High and High School returned again to Forest Home where the kids had a tremendous time learning more about deepening their relationship with the Lord, and enjoy fun times in the mud, the giant swing, swimming in the lake and plopping on the Blob, hanging out late at night at the coffee cafe, devotional times in the cabin, games in the swimming pool and hanging out together.
If you ask most of the kids what their favorite part of camp is many will tell you - the worship time. It seems that during this time they are really able to get away from the distractions around them, focus their attention and minds on Jesus and allow the Holy Spirit to connect to their hearts. They don't have to worry about anyone making fun of them and it's a wonderful opportunity for them to see other kids their age, along with their peers truly worship and praise their Savior Jesus.
Our elementary kids returned to Alpine and this year we doubled our campers from 10 total last year to 10 boys AND 10 girls.! They got to choose different activities during free time which included archery, cooking, and of course swimming.
A very special highlight was during prayer time when many of the kids were too shy to pray or "didn't know how." Our staff lovingly walked them through how simple prayer is - "just like talking" - and were blessed when the kids opened up their hearts in prayer. Many prayed about how thankful they were to be able to come to camp; thankful that their parents let them come to camp; and thankful for the sponsors that allow them to come to camp. Such sweet unforgettable moments!
Last year I came to camp and I was excited to keep growing in my faith, but then school started and honestly I just got lazy. I stopped reading my Bible and stopped going to the bible studies; I was far from God. I was reminded at this camp that God is always with me and He gives me many chances to come back to Him. I recommitted my life to God at camp and this time I won't stop growing closer to Him.
Hands down great time, highlight of the summer!
This was my first year ever going to a Tesoro camp and I am so glad I came. I gave my life to Jesus Christ for the first time ever and now I'm ready to learn more about the Bible and the plans God has for me.
Past camps and comments
I like coming to camp to learn more about God, being with friends, chapel services and meeting new friends. It is an amazing week.
Dear Sponsor,
Thank you very much for your generous donation. This camp that you paid for me to go really helped me out with the troubles I was going through. It helped me forgive people, I myself wasn't sure I would be able to. I learned many new things about Jesus my God....God bless you.
Dear Sponsor,
Thank you for helping Tesoro Club. I learned more about Christ and I got more closer to him and I just want to thank you for everything. God Bless
Dear Sponsor,
I am so thankful for what you did for us. I haad a blast! When I got to Green Valley Lake camp it was so fresh. I learned lots of great stuff. I was struggling with forgiving my father for leaving my family when I was 10. I can now say that I forgive him because I can see now how God had a purpose for that. I mess him but I now have the insane love for God as he is my father. I don't see myself the way I used to.
Thank you, God bless you.
